Sha Tin Park

Sha Tin Park is located at No. 2 Yu Wo Road, Sha Tin, New Territories, Hong Kong. Formerly known as Sha Tin Central Park, it lies adjacent to the Shing Mun River, extends eastward to Lion Bridge and westward to Sha Yan Bridge, and neighbors Sha Tin Town Hall, City Art Square, and New Town Plaza. Covering an area of 8.05 hectares, the park took three years to build at a cost of HK$75 million, and was opened on August 24, 1988. It is managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

Sha Tin Park is divided into several themed gardens, featuring over 100,000 plants of more than 400 species, including many rare varieties. The “Open-air Concert Area” is located at the heart of the park and connects to Sha Tin Town Hall and Lek Yuen Bridge. Adjacent to this central area are multiple theme gardens, such as the Walled Fragrance Garden, Azalea Garden, Rock Garden, and Seasonal Garden. To the east lies the “Adventureland” with an oriental flair, while the southern end features the “South Garden,” home to an 18-meter-high waterfall cascading down from a cliffside hill straight into a large pool, linked by a central island, arched bridge, and pavilions. Next to the South Garden is the Western-style Adventureland. The North Garden is designed in the style of a traditional Chinese garden, with undulating “Dragon’s Back” walls and colonnaded pavilions. The entire park is filled with poetic charm and makes for a delightful leisure destination.
