Han Garden, Hong Kong

Han Garden is located on Tonkin Street in Cheung Sha Wan, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It was completed in December 1993, and its facilities are built in the style of the Han Dynasty. Managed and operated by the Hong Kong Housing Authority, it is near the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb Museum.

Themed around Chinese Han Dynasty garden design, the garden offers several sightseeing spots.

Fun Garden: Centered around appreciating stone statues and sculptures, it is surrounded by pavilions for visitors to rest.

Cuju Platform: An open-sided square elevated platform. In 1993, to commemorate 40 years of public housing management by the Hong Kong government, then-Governor Chris Patten personally buried a time capsule here.

Rain-Listening Corridor: Located next to the Cuju Platform, it is a covered long corridor by the side of the reservoir.

Han Boat: Passing through the Rain-Listening Corridor leads to a stone boat with dragon head carvings, situated in the reservoir.

Pleasure Pavilion: Located opposite the Han Boat, its windows frame the view of the reservoir. It also features roof hooks where visitors can hang their own birdcages to enjoy the birds’ songs.

Reservoir: The pond is home to koi fish and turtles.

Chess Pavilion: Situated on the other side of the reservoir, it consists of four four-pillared square pavilions, totaling 16 pillars. It provides four chessboards for visitors to play Chinese chess or Go.
