The Pingshuo Antaibao Open-Pit Coal Mine, also known as Open-Pit Mine No. 1, is China's largest open-pit coal mine. Located at the border between Shuozhou City and Pingshuo District, it covers a total area of 376 square kilometers with geological reserves of approximately 12.6 billion tons. It is the largest open-pit coal mine in China to date. The Antaibao coal also bears deep imprints of China’s reform and opening-up; it was personally promoted by Deng Xiaoping and built with the first foreign investment introduced during China’s reform and opening era.
