The Grassland Stone City Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Grassland Stone City Scenic Area is located 40 kilometers from Jimunai County and boasts magnificent geological landscapes. The area features uniquely shaped granite formations on its ridges and slopes that are highly picturesque and attract numerous visitors every year. The scenic area continues to improve its infrastructure, enhance its quality, and provide one-stop services, leading to consistently rising visitor satisfaction.

The ridges and slopes of the scenic area are covered with massive, bizarrely shaped rock formations formed through dissolution and wind erosion.

Stepping into the Grassland Stone City Scenic Area is like entering a “world of figures” and an “ocean of animals.” Visitors are often deeply amazed by the spectacular sights around them. Such unique rock formations are abundant in the area, featuring imaginative human and animal shapes that are incredibly lifelike and highly photogenic—making it seem like a giant open-air museum of strange stones. The grassland vegetation complements the scenery of the Grassland Stone City, coexisting in harmony. Every summer, a variety of wildflowers bloom successively, covering the landscape in green and vibrant splashes of color, with fragrances drifting for miles, resembling a heavenly paradise. Visitors find themselves enchanted and reluctant to leave. Especially noteworthy is a never-drying clear spring located halfway up a steep, sheer mountainside, known locally as the “Sacred Spring.” The water is crystal clear and sweet to the taste, and it is said that drinking it regularly can promote longevity. This has attracted people of all ethnicities and many tourists from far and wide who come to worship and sightsee. According to geologists, the Tongtian Cave in the Grassland Stone City is the largest known granite cave formation in China. Even more fascinating is a “strange slope” found within the scenic area that appears to go uphill but actually goes downhill, adding another layer of mystery to the wonders of the stone city.

A year has four seasons, and the changing of seasons reveals the different personalities of the Grassland Stone City. The wonders of nature have crafted its bizarre rocks. In spring, melting snow brings the animal-shaped rocks to life. In summer, wildflowers blanket the hillsides, harmonizing with the stones’ dewy sheen. In autumn, mist veils the landscape, making the rocks appear to shimmer in a dreamlike haze. In winter, a blanket of white snow highlights the fresh purity of the unique stones.
