Beitaishan Ancient Fort is a cultural tourism attraction.

Beitaishan Ancient Fort is located in A’erletuobie Township, Qinghe County, 13 kilometers east of Boundary Marker No. 68 on the China-Mongolia border, with Beitaishan Mountain to the southeast. Six kilometers to the west lies Dahongshan Mountain, and 8 kilometers to the northwest, Aman Tie Mountain can be seen. Its geographical coordinates are 45°44′35″N, 90°18′23″E, at an altitude of 1

290 meters. It is accessible via the old National Highway 216, a gravel road, making transportation relatively convenient.

Wild animals such as goitered gazelles, snow leopards, wolves, and foxes are often spotted around the ancient fort. To the east of the fort is a spring surrounded by lush grass and water plants. The area where the fort is situated is called Dabuxun, with remnants of houses found on four hilltops. The ruins on the southern hill are the highest and largest among the four. Within the ruins, rows of house structures and fire channels used for lighting fires are clearly visible. The walls were built using adobe bricks measuring 7×18×15 centimeters, and each house was approximately 16 square meters in size. The houses were all built on open ground along the outer periphery of the hills, along with some similar bunker-like ruins.

Artifacts such as bullet casings, coins, and cotton fabrics have been unearthed from the ruins. Investigators have also found Soviet-made 7.92mm rifle cartridge cases, iron buttons, hats, and other items.

This site was a military bunker during a certain historical period, once garrisoned by a company of soldiers tasked with guarding a key transportation route. It was later besieged by a large bandit group for over a week. The bandits cut off the fort’s water supply, gradually weakening the defending forces. Without reinforcements, the fort was eventually overrun by the bandits.
