Excavations have revealed remnants of houses, wooden tools, cloth, shoes, flax seeds, oil cakes, and fragments of Tang Dynasty documents within the city. Analysis of pottery shards found throughout the site suggests that the city was most active during the Tang Dynasty, serving as an important military garrison under the Anxi Protectorate of the Tang.
