Desert Grand View Garden

Located in the desert area to the east of the former starting point of the Sino-British joint expedition team in Kumukusar Township, the Desert Grand View Garden is a comprehensive desert tourism zone integrating functions such as desert recreation, sightseeing photography, adventure experiences, and science education. The main planned projects are as follows:

Desert Adventure Base. Near the site of the former Sino-British joint expedition starting point, plans include a desert off-road vehicle service station, an adventure equipment shop, a camel rental center, an adventure guide service center, a rescue center, a Heroes Monument, and a helicopter landing pad. Four desert adventure routes will be established: “The Hero’s Journey” – crossing the Taklamakan Desert from the base to Ruoqiang, “The Brave’s Journey” – from the adventure base to the ancient desert road station, “The Perseverance Journey” – from the adventure base to the Millennium Populus Euphratica Park, and “The Experience Journey” – from the adventure base to the Kalama Lake Desert Inn.

Desert Carnival. The amusement area integrates distinctive desert recreational activities, offering both desert sightseeing and entertainment functions. Planned desert recreational projects include: a desert cable car, thrilling sand sliding, desert go-karts, desert motorcycles, desert buggies, desert paragliding, camel riding, camel racing, desert shooting, desert archery, desert skydiving, beach soccer, beach volleyball, and beach wellness. Desert sightseeing activities include: watching the desert sunrise, enjoying the desert sunset, viewing sand sculptures, exploring desert rocks and unique sands.

Desert Culture Museum. Designed with architectural elements inspired by the traditional Dolan dwellings, the Desert Culture Museum is planned to showcase historical figures, cultural relics, desert folklore, sand control history, exploration technology, desert warfare, desert films, desert photography, desert science education, desert treasures, and desert flora and fauna. Utilizing modern technology, the museum will enrich its interpretation content and methods, allowing visitors to experience desert culture in a “one-stop” fashion.

Desert Ancient Town. Using imitation ancient building materials and incorporating various styles of ancient towns in the Western Regions, this project aims to create a cultural exhibition and tourism area. Four ancient towns are planned: the Juejie Ancient Town – the Eastern “Pompeii” in the Sea of Death, the Loulan Ancient Town – the mysterious kingdom of history and legend, the Gaochang Ancient Town – the glorious kingdom buried beneath the Flaming Mountains, and the Dayuan Ancient Town – the homeland of the legendary “blood-sweating horses” that vanished a thousand years ago. Equipped with resort hotels and catering service centers, these will become uniquely themed attractions.

Desert Ancient Road Station. Located about 50 kilometers east of the entrance to the Sino-British expedition, the Ancient Road Station features Islamic-style domed architecture, with a landmark structure at the entrance and a planned 100-meter-high observation tower nearby, creating a wonder in China’s deserts. The accommodation capacity is designed for 100 people, and facilities such as a small aircraft landing pad and off-road vehicle parking lots will be provided to support tourist transportation and logistical supply. The building’s roof and exterior walls will make full use of desert solar thermal energy resources, with added external wall temperature-regulating materials to reflect low-carbon and ecological concepts.
