Dolang Cultural Square is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Dolang Cultural Square. Situated in the heart of the county, Dolang Cultural Square spans over 100 acres. Construction started in 2003, and it was officially inaugurated on October 1 of the same year. It functions not only as a gathering place for political, cultural, entertainment, leisure, and fitness activities for all ethnic groups in the county, but also as a focal point for their spiritual and cultural life as well as a base for patriotic education. In 2013, it was developed into a national AAA-level tourist attraction and has played a significant role in promoting the county’s spiritual civilization. The square features tangible structures such as historical, cultural, and artistic sculptures, colonnades and pavilions that blend Chinese and Western styles, solemn white marble flagpoles, ornamental pillars, and railings, as well as an oval-shaped pool and elegant arched bridges. These are complemented by symmetrically arranged lawns and flower arrangements, garden plants, granite and square tile pavements adorned with colorful patterns, modern variable-frequency synchronized musical fountains, uniquely designed lighting fixtures, and other landscape elements. Together, they highlight the long-standing history and profound humanistic spirit of the Chinese nation, as well as the distinctive folk customs and the charm of Maigaiti County as the hometown of Dolang culture.

“Passionate Dolang, Joy Every Day.” On summer and autumn nights, as the lights come on, the cultural square becomes a sea of joy for the Dolang people. Dolang Mashrap, also known as the Dolang Dance, features music that is deep, simple, resonant, lingering, and stirring. The vibrant melodies of the Dolang Dance pour out from the speakers, and hundreds or even thousands of dancers—men, women, young, and old—pair up and dance gracefully. This community-wide recreational activity is a dance for all, where the powerful and energetic melodies celebrate the creation of the world through labor and embody an optimistic and uplifting spirit of life.
