To promote the achievements of desertification control hero Bai Chunlan and provide ecological education to the public, the Memorial Park of Desertification Control Heroes was constructed in Yishu Natural Village, Huamachi Town, according to arrangements by relevant autonomous region authorities. The park spans 3,200 mu and now includes a 406-square-meter exhibition hall, a 1,000-square-meter square in front of the hall, as well as a main gate, a statue of Mao Xian, and the Warmheart Pavilion. The Bai Chunlan and Mao Xian Desertification Control Achievements Exhibition Hall is divided into a foyer and a main exhibition hall. The central screen in the foyer displays the important instructions given by General Secretary [name redacted] during his visit to Bai Chunlan. The main exhibition hall primarily showcases the arduous journey, significant accomplishments, and the desert control efforts of model worker Bai Chunlan’s family over the past two decades, as well as the ecological restoration achievements of Yanchi County.

What was once a single tree is now a lush forest. The National Desertification Control Heroes Bai Chunlan and Mao Xian Memorial Park is located in the northeastern part of Huamachi Town, Yanchi County. It is a desert forest nature scenic area that integrates science popularization, education, entertainment, and sightseeing. This tourist area was developed after more than 20 years of tree planting and sand stabilization efforts by Bai Chunlan. Construction of the memorial park began in April 2008, and projects such as the Mao Xian statue, the Warmheart Pavilion, and the square have now been completed and put into use. Yang Chunguang and his delegation presented a flower basket to the statue of Mao Xian and visited the desertification control efforts at the memorial park. Yang Chunguang said that desertification control heroes Bai Chunlan and Mao Xian are exemplary children of the Party and of the people of Ningxia, having made great contributions to the cause of desert control. Their indomitable spirit in combating desertification must be widely promoted. Efforts should be made to develop the memorial park into a regional education base for sand prevention and control, inspiring more officials and citizens, drawing strength from their legacy, and jointly advancing the leapfrog development of our region to create a bright future for Ningxia.
