Riverside Park is an urban ecological garden covering an area of 6 hectares, with 5 hectares dedicated to greenery. It features over 5,000 trees of 28 different species, more than 40 acres of lawns, two artificial lakes, and one children's playground. The park boasts an elegant environment and pleasant scenery, making it an ideal spot for locals to relax and visitors to enjoy. Built starting in 1999 in accordance with Kelan County’s ecological development plan and overall urban planning, the Riverside Park was expanded from the site of the ancient Yunji Temple ruins on Xishan Mountain, located 0.5 kilometers southwest of the county town. Xishan Mountain has an elevation of 1,412 meters, and is described as having “sharp peaks rising steeply, winding stone paths, shady pine forests, radiant clouds filling the sky — a cool summer retreat known as Yunji Temple.” It is one of the eight scenic spots of the county. The site was visited many times by Ouyang Xiu, a Northern Song Dynasty literary scholar and historian, the poet and calligrapher Huang Tingjian, and the philosopher Shao Yong.
