Yanghetao Site

The Yanghetao Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Kelan County.

The Yanghetao Site is located about 1,000 meters southeast of Yanghetao Village, Lan Yi Town, Kelan County. It spans approximately 400 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south, covering a total area of about 12 square meters. The site sits on a terrace where the Lan Yi River meets the Nanchuan River. The terrain slopes from high in the east to low in the west, featuring a terraced distribution, with a gully to the south. The cultural layer is 0.4 to 0.7 meters thick. Artifacts collected include gray pottery shards with sand inclusions and clay-bodied gray pottery shards from the Neolithic Age, decorated with cord and basketry patterns on the surface, though the vessel shapes are unclear. There are also clay-bodied gray pottery shards from the Han Dynasty, decorated with cord patterns or left plain, with unknown vessel shapes. In 1984, the Kelan County People’s Government designated it as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit.
