Taining Palace

Taining Palace is a cultural heritage site protected by Fanshi County.

Taining Palace is located in Dongguan Village, Shahe Town, Fanshi County. It faces south with its back to the north. The structure stretches 81.4 meters from north to south and 10.2 meters from east to west, covering an area of 814 square meters. According to a restoration stele from the 45th year of the Qianlong reign in the Qing Dynasty (1780) found within the temple, it was originally built in the 33rd year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1605), and the current structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

The layout consists of three courtyards, with a theatrical stage, offering hall, main hall, and scripture depository arranged sequentially along the central axis. The main hall is five bays wide and six rafters deep, featuring a seven-rafter front-and-rear corridor-style framework and a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. Horse-riding sparrow braces are installed on the column capitals. Two Qing Dynasty steles and two stone lions are preserved in the temple. Shahe Town: Shahe Town is located in the central part of Fanshi County, covering a total area of 222 square kilometers and comprising 43 administrative villages. It was known as Shahe Commune in 1978 and was renamed Shahe Town in 1984. By the end of 2012, the town had 14,994 households and a population of 42,217.

In 1984, Shahe Town was listed as a national pilot town for small-town construction by the Ministry of Construction. In 1988, it was named a Star Town for Township Enterprises and a Billion-Yuan Town by the provincial government.
