Hongfu Temple in Fanshi

Hongfu Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Fanshi County.

Hongfu Temple is located in Shanhuicun Village, Dongshan Township, Fanshi County. It faces south and measures 53 meters from north to south and 30.3 meters from east to west, covering an area of 1,594 square meters. The exact date of its establishment is unknown. According to inscriptions in the temple, it was expanded in the 25th year of the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty (1392), renovated in the 10th year of the Jiajing era (1531), and further repaired in the 10th year of the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty (1853).

The temple features a two-courtyard layout, with structures arranged along a central axis: the mountain gate, the passageway hall, and the main hall, flanked by side halls on the east and west. Currently, except for the main hall which dates to modern times and the east side hall which is from the Ming Dynasty, all other buildings are from the Qing Dynasty. The main hall has three bays in width and four rafters in depth, featuring a five-rafter front-and-rear corridor structure and a single-eave hanging gable roof. The east hall is three bays wide and four rafters deep, with a five-rafter structure without a corridor and a single-eave hanging gable roof. Both the column capitals and intercolumnar spaces are fitted with single-bracket single-tiered bracket sets. There are three Qing Dynasty steles recording renovations.
