Dongyu Three Saints Temple

Dongyu Three Saints Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Fanshi County.

Dongyu Three Saints Temple is located approximately 200 meters north of Dongyu Village in Fancheng Town, Fanshi County. It faces south and measures 10 meters east-west and 9 meters north-south, covering an area of 90 square meters. The exact date of its establishment is unknown, but the existing structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty. According to an inscription, it was relocated here from Xizhuang Village in the 10th year of the Tongzhi reign (1871) during the Qing Dynasty. Only the main hall, known as the Puguangming Hall, remains. It is three bays wide, four rafters deep, and features a five-rafter front corridor-style framework with a single-eave flush-gable roof. The front eaves on the central and side bays are fitted with four-panel six-leaf partition doors. The hall houses statues of the Huayan Three Saints, as well as figures of Vajras, Arhats, and Bodhisattvas. Inside the temple, there are 12 stone inscriptions, each 1.25 meters high, 6.05 meters wide, and 0.15 meters thick, erected in the 10th year of the Tongzhi reign (1871). The texts are all written in regular script. Aside from the first inscription, which details the relocation process of the Three Saints Temple, the others list the names of donors. Deng Shilin composed the texts, and Xi Lanfang did the calligraphy. On April 15, 1985, the Fanshi County People’s Government designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
