Inner Ming Great Wall Ruins (Fanshi Section)

The Inner Ming Great Wall Ruins (Fanshi Section) is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

The Fanshi section of the Inner Ming Great Wall runs northward from Lingqiu County into Fanshi County. Its starting point is 3,000 meters southeast of Shentangbao Village in Shentangbao Township, passing through Pingxing Pass in Hengjian Township, and ends 2,000 meters northwest of Tuanchengkou Village in Daying Town before continuing north into Hunyuan County. The elevation ranges between 1,100 and 1,700 meters. The wall is built using two methods: rammed earth and stone masonry. There are 17 surviving sections of the wall, totaling approximately 38,000 meters in length. Along the wall, there are 2 passes, 11 fortresses, 79 enemy towers, 33 beacon towers, and 6 steles. According to records from the Ming History and the Guangxu-era Shanxi General Annals of the Qing Dynasty, this section of the Great Wall was built during the Chenghua to Wanli eras of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1620). In 1986, the People's Government of Shanxi Province designated the historical Great Wall as a key cultural relic protection unit of the province.
