Ningwu Yongji Bridge

Yongji Bridge is located in Xiguan Village, Fenghuang Town, Ningwu County, covering an area of approximately 300 square meters. It is a structure from the Qing Dynasty. The existing bridge is a single-arch stone bridge running east-west, with a total length of 25 meters and a width of 7 meters. The arch has a height of 3 meters and a width of 5.35 meters. A water-spouting beast is installed on the arch, and the lintel features a stone plaque inscribed with the characters “永济桥” (Yongji Bridge) in regular script. The bridge is built with ashlar stones. The bridge deck is arched, paved with bluestone slabs, and flanked by stone railings, balusters, and drum-shaped supporting stones. To the west of the bridge stands a stone lion approximately 2 meters tall. An inscribed archway is located about 4.5 meters west of the bridge, housing three stelae within its structure: one Qing Dynasty stele commemorating the reconstruction of Yongji Bridge and two merit steles. According to the inscriptions, the bridge was originally built in the 20th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1755), and underwent multiple restorations during the Jiaqing and Daoguang eras. The bridge is still in use today. In 1984, it was designated as a county-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Ningwu County.
