Yuwang Cave National Forest Park

Yuwang Cave National Forest Park is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national forest park.

Yuwang Cave National Forest Park is located in the Xizhou Mountain Range within the territory of Xinzhou City. The park is 60 kilometers from the provincial capital Taiyuan and 14 kilometers north of Xinzhou. It covers a total area of 110,000 mu, with a forested area of 23,000 mu, and the highest elevation reaches 1,800 meters. The mountain is primarily composed of limestone, featuring majestic peaks and uniquely rugged rocks, along with numerous karst caves. Among them, Yuwang Cave is the largest in scale, with spectacular and unique landscapes, and is known as the "No. 1 Cave in North China."

The forest park boasts abundant flora and fauna resources, with 248 species of plants, flowers, trees, and grasses. In spring, peach, apricot, and lilac blossoms compete in beauty; in summer, roses and lilies bloom with reds and greens; in autumn, wild chrysanthemums vie for attention while frost-covered leaves spread across the mountains; in winter, evergreen pines stand proudly against the snow, and fruit trees remain fruitful. Throughout the year, the forests are home to agile yellow goats, nimble squirrels, greedy wild boars, hopping rabbits, startled pheasants, and singing orioles... creating picturesque mountain scenes all year round.

The main scenic areas of the forest park are all located within the Xizhou Mountain Range. Legend has it that during his efforts to control the floods, Yu the Great moored his boat here to divert the waters, leaving behind a legacy of hardship and achievement, which has long brought fame to the area. According to the overall plan, the park is divided into four major scenic zones with 110 attractions.
