Tomb of Gongsun Chujiu

The Tomb of Gongsun Chujiu is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Tomb of Gongsun Chujiu is located one kilometer east of Xinzhou City. Gongsun Chujiu was a man from the State of Jin during the Spring and Autumn period. In the third year of Duke Jing of Jin’s reign (597 BC), he conspired with Cheng Ying to hide the orphaned Zhao heir, Zhao Wu, and sacrificed his own life.

The tomb site currently includes a memorial hall and the grave. The memorial hall is set within a rectangular courtyard, covering an area of about 7 mu, and has over 20 existing rooms and halls, including five main hall rooms. The central part is the Gongsun Chujiu Memorial Hall, where a wooden shrine in the altar area houses statues of Gongsun Chujiu and his wife.

The tomb is located 200 meters directly south of the memorial hall. The mound is 2.3 meters high, and in front of it stands a stele from the Ming and Qing dynasties, inscribed “Tomb of the Righteous Gentleman Gongsun Chujiu of Jin,” dating back to the 11th year of the Zhengde era.
