Temple of Gongsun Chukuai

The Temple of Gongsun Chukuai is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City.

The Temple of Gongsun Chukuai is located east of Lujiazhuang Village, Xinzenglu Subdistrict, Xinfu District. It faces south with a north orientation, measuring 41.8 meters from east to west and 110.5 meters from north to south. The exact year of its establishment is unknown, but according to an inscription in the main hall, it was rebuilt in the 24th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1844). The layout consists of two courtyards, with the central axis featuring a stage, a passageway hall, and side halls on the east and west. Except for the stage, which was newly built in recent years, the rest are all structures dating back to the Qing Dynasty. The passageway hall is three bays wide and five rafters deep, with a suspended gable and rolled shed roof. The main hall is built on a brick foundation 0.65 meters high, five bays wide and four rafters deep, with a single-eave suspended gable roof and a five-rafter, corridor-less structural style. The front eaves of the central and side bays are fitted with six-panel lattice windows and doors, with drum-shaped column bases. Inside the main hall, the central bay houses a shrine with seated statues of Gongsun Chukuai and his wife. Gongsun Chukuai was a minister of the State of Jin who sacrificed himself to save the orphan of the Zhao family. This temple was established in his memory. The east and west side halls are each five bays wide and four rafters deep, with suspended gable roofs. On June 6, 2007, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Xinzhou City.

Nanjie Village: Lujiazhuang Village is located on Changzheng West Road, bordered by Kuangcun to the east, Jiulonggang to the south, Dayun Road to the west, and both the Xinzhou-Jinzhong and Heping roads—two east-west oriented major roads—to the north. The village has a population of 8,481 residents in 2,827 households. It currently has 800 mu of land, mainly cultivating corn with an annual yield of 350 tons. The local economy primarily revolves around construction, building materials production, transportation, and service industries.
