Zhangcun Site

The Zhangcun Site is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Zhangcun Site is located about 500 meters west of Zhangcun in Xinfu District. The site stretches 300 meters from east to west and 400 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters, with a cultural layer about 0.45 to 2.6 meters thick. Collected artifacts include gray pottery shards made of clay, decorated with cord marks, belonging to the Neolithic Longshan Culture. On April 10, 1985, the former People's Government of Xinzhou City (a county-level city at the time) designated it as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit.

Zhangcun Village: Located 18 kilometers north of Xinzhou City, Zhangcun Village was originally named Dayou Zhangcun and later abbreviated to Zhangcun. It operates as an independent village. In September 1984, its Production Brigade Management Committee was restructured into a Villagers’ Committee. It is a pilot village for new rural development designated by both the provincial and municipal governments, an agricultural technology demonstration base recognized by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Productivity Promotion Center, a chili pepper cultivation base under Shanxi Province’s "One Village, One Product" initiative, and an emerging dried and fresh red chili market in North China.
