The Site of Sanguang Temple Ruins

The Site of Sanguang Temple Ruins is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City.

The Site of Sanguang Temple Ruins is located on the mountainside of Sanwei Mountain, approximately 3,000 meters west of Liansigou Village in Zhuangmo Town, Xinfu District. It earned its name because the pine trees surrounding the temple resemble an umbrella canopy. Initially built in the early Tang Dynasty, it underwent multiple renovations during the Jiajing and Wanli eras of the Ming Dynasty, as well as the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The temple was destroyed during the Republican era, and the current remains date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Temple of the Fifth Deity, the Mahavira Hall, the Hall of the Goddess of Mercy, the Guan Yu Hall, and the Hall of the Water-Dripping Guanyin were all rebuilt on the original sites. There are 16 stone tablets preserved at the ruins. On April 10, 1985, the former People's Government of Xinzhou City (a county-level city) designated it as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.

Liansigou Village: Overview of Liansigou: Located in a hilly and mountainous area, it is situated 27 kilometers southwest of Xinzhou. Liansigou Village lies in a mountain valley and was originally connected to Sanguang Temple, hence the name "Liansigou" (literally "Connected-to-Temple Valley"). It currently has 171 hectares of arable land, 206 households, and a population of 560, with agriculture as the main economic activity. Apples and walnuts are the local specialties.
