Former Site of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in Nanru

The Former Site of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in Nanru is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

In late October 1937, the Eighth Route Army headquarters left the Wutai Mountain area and headed for the Taihang Mountains. After the headquarters departed, Nie Rongzhen stayed behind to establish the Jin-Cha-Ji Military District. Today, the former site of the Jin-Cha-Ji Military District General Headquarters is still preserved in Jinkangku, 15 kilometers south of Taihuai.

The Former Site of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in Nanru is located in Nanru Village, Wutai County. After the July 7th Incident in 1937, the Eighth Route Army headquarters, led by Commander-in-Chief -, arrived in Hebian Village, Wutai County (now part of Dingxiang) on September 22. The next day, they reached Wutai County seat. A welcome ceremony was held in Wutai County, where - delivered an important speech outlining the Ten-Point Program for Resisting Japan and Saving the Nation. In the afternoon of that day, the headquarters was stationed in Nanru Village. - and Comrade Peng Dehuai fought here for over 40 days. They assisted the local authorities in party and government building, and established the Wutai Guerrilla Unit. The 129th Division once stayed in Dongye Town, Wutai, and the deputy commander of the 129th Division, -, returned to his long-missed hometown and gave a speech on resisting Japan and saving the nation at the Tuoyang School in Dongye. Later, he commanded famous battles such as the Night Raid on the Japanese airstrip at Yangmingbao during the Battle of Pingxingguan, all from Nanru Village.

In May 2013, the Former Site of the Eighth Route Army Headquarters in Nanru was listed as part of the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
