Yangbai Red Flag Commune Gate Tower

The Yangbai Red Flag Commune Gate Tower is located in the center of Yangbai Village, Yangbai Township, Wutai County. In 1958, the Yangbai Commune was renamed the Yangbai Red Flag Commune, and the Red Flag Gate was built that same year. Facing south and covering an area of 442 square meters, the gate serves as the southern entrance to Yangbai Village. It features four pillars and three archways, with the left pillar inscribed with the slogan “Rouse full enthusiasm and strive to be at the forefront,” the right pillar reading “Work faster, better, and more economically to build our motherland,” and the top reading “Red Flag Gate.” The side arches are labeled “Hold High” and “the Red Flag,” with a five-pointed star on top. On the back, the left pillar reads “One horse leads, ten thousand follow,” while the right one says “Years of hard work bring everlasting happiness.” The tops of the side arches are inscribed with “In Deeds” and “In Conduct.” Adjacent to the Red Flag Gate is a brick-arched sluice gate, also featuring four pillars and three passageways, with a water sluice slot. The side arches here are labeled “A Dream for a Thousand Years” and “Fulfilled in an Instant.”
