The former site of the Tanshang Village Office

The former site of the Tanshang Village Office is located to the west of Tanshang Village, Jian'an Township, Wutai County. Starting in the eighth year of the Republic of China (1919), Yan Xishan reorganized villages and implemented the district-village system, and the Tanshang Village Office was established in the twenty-fourth year of the Republic of China (1935). The site faces west and covers an area of 97 square meters. The surviving structure consists of five stone-arched cave dwellings, with a door set in the central bay and windows in the side and end bays. A wooden corridor is built at the front, with stone drum column bases and architraves supported by the corridor pillars. Front and rear cantilevers extend out with single-cloud-shaped carved ends, and the rear consists of stone-arched cave dwellings. In earlier years, a plaque inscribed with "Tanshang Village Office" hung in the central bay; in 1963, the plaque naturally fell down.

Tanshang Village, Jian'an Township: Located south of the Hutuo River, the village covers a total area of 1.55 square kilometers, with a total arable land area of 549 mu, including 479 mu of irrigated land and 70 mu of paddy fields.
