The Xu Ancestral Hall of Dajian'an

The Xu Ancestral Hall of Dajian'an is a cultural relic protection unit of Xinzhou City.

The Xu Ancestral Hall of Dajian'an is located to the west of Dajian'an Village, Jian'an Township, Wutai County. The Xu family ancestral hall broke ground for construction in the 17th year of the Republic of China (1928), was fully completed in the 23rd year (1934), and underwent renovations in 1958, 1985, and 2002. It faces south with a north orientation, features a single-entry two-courtyard layout, and covers an area of 815 square meters. There is a tall screen wall at the southern entrance, flanked by a left and right ceremonial gate, with bracket sets and upturned eaves, a small front courtyard, and steps leading up. The main hall is at the rear, featuring a three-bay structure, upturned eaves, and gray-tiled roofing. There is a side room on the east, and a plaque inside reads “Xianhe Zhi Ci” (Hall of Harmonious Ancestors). There is a passageway as well. The front courtyard has three rooms on each side, with flush gable roofs and gray tiles. Between the first and second courtyards is a decorative floral gate, with bracket sets and upturned eaves, a small courtyard, and steps leading up. The rear courtyard also has a three-bay main hall with a side room. The main hall has three rooms, and the side room has one. The rear hall has a coffered ceiling, and the side room has a gable and hip roof with bracket sets and upturned eaves. In November 2003, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Wutai County.
