Wutai Stone Buddha Temple

The Wutai Stone Buddha Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Wutai County.

The Stone Buddha Temple is located about 700 meters west of Xinxinglu Village, Shizui Township, Wutai County. Also known as the Stone Buddha Temple, Chaoyang Cave, and Writing Cliff, it was originally one of the real-scene attractions of Mount Wutai. Facing east with its back to the west, the central axis currently features the Heavenly King Hall and the Stone Buddha Hall, while the northern and southern sides consist of cliffs (Writing Cliff). All structures were rebuilt in 1993. The Stone Buddha Hall covers an area of 66 square meters, with a stone niche carved in the center housing eight seated Buddha statues arranged in upper, middle, and lower tiers. The larger statues are 0.35 meters tall, the medium-sized ones 0.18 meters, and the smallest just 0.13 meters. The carving style exhibits characteristics of the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The northern and southern cliff walls feature ink inscriptions that appear when wet and disappear when dry. The scripts are mostly seal and clerical scripts, including characters such as 精 (essence), 神 (spirit), 风 (wind), 水 (water), 火 (fire), and 京 (capital), representing inscriptions from the Qing Dynasty. In July 1985, the People's Government of Wutai County designated it as a county-level cultural relic protection unit.

Xinxinglu Village: Xinxinglu in Shizui Township is located in the eastern part of the township, about 2 kilometers from the Shizui Township government. The village is home to 106 households, 247 residents, and 21 Party members, with 265 acres of arable land and a grain output of 80.3 tons.
