Pujue Temple at the South Summit of Mount Wutai is a cultural relic protection unit of Wutai County.

Pujue Temple at the South Summit of Mount Wutai is located approximately 2,200 meters north of Kuantan Temple Village, Taihuai Town, Wutai County. Facing south with its back to the north, the temple measures 68.43 meters from east to west and 67.78 meters from north to south, covering an area of 4,638 square meters. According to the Ming Dynasty’s *Qingliang Mountain Annals*, it was built in the first year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (581).

The temple underwent renovations during the Chenghua era of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1487), the Wanli era (1573–1620), and the fourth year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1665). The existing structures include the Mahavira Hall, Manjushri Hall, guest hall, and monks’ quarters, with the rest dating from the Qing Dynasty. The layout consists of a two-courtyard complex, with the central axis running from south to north featuring, in sequence: the Heavenly King Hall, Mahavira Hall, and Rear Hall (Ancient Buddha Hall). On the western side are the Ksitigarbha Hall, Guanyin Hall, Ancient Manjushri Cave, and Samantabhadra Relic Stupa, while the eastern side houses the monks’ quarters and guest hall. In recent years, an additional wing has been constructed on the eastern side, including a dining hall and monks’ residence. The temple preserves four Buddhist statues from the Ming Dynasty and three steles recording renovations from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.
