Sigou Pagoda

Sigou Pagoda is a cultural relic protection unit of Wutai County.

Sigou Pagoda is located 100 meters north of Sigou Village, Doucun Town, Wutai County. According to the inscription on the third-story pagoda stele, it was built in the 12th year of the Zhiyuan era of the Yuan Dynasty (1352). This hexagonal, five-story brick pagoda features a pavilion-style design, standing approximately 15 meters tall with a footprint of 7.8 square meters.

The base of the pagoda is hexagonal, 1.34 meters high and 3.08 meters in diameter, built as a brick-bound waist-eave Sumeru pedestal. The upper and lower inverted and upright moldings feature a mixed lotus pattern, and various floral designs are carved around the doorways. The five-story body of the pagoda is solid. The first story has eaves supported by five-component double-tiered bracket sets, with carved brick reliefs above the second eave, depicting vines. The second story and those above have eaves supported by four-component single-tiered bracket sets, imitating wooden structures, with delicate carvings. The eaves corners curl upward, and there are small animal figures on the ridges. On the second story, there are also residual brick carvings in the shape of residual tiles. The third story features residual carvings on the upper eaves. The steeple is missing. Sigou Village: Sigou Village is located northeast of Doucun Town, west of the Xinzhou-Taiyuan Highway, about 10 kilometers from Doucun Town. It borders Xialiuyuan to the north and Donghui to the south. The village has 80 households, a population of 308, and 14 Party members. It covers a total area of 4,602.3 mu, including 825 mu of arable land. The area enjoys a warm temperate climate, suitable for growing various grains and cereals, so the main source of income for villagers is agriculture.
