Yanru Temple

Yanru Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Wutai County.

Yanru Temple is located in Hebei Village, Gengzhen Town, Wutai County. Its exact date of establishment is unknown. According to inscriptions in the temple, it was renovated during the Kangxi era of the Qing Dynasty (1622–1722), and underwent repairs in subsequent dynasties. The temple covers an area of approximately 1,073 square meters.

The temple faces south and originally had a single-courtyard layout, but has since expanded into a complex with three courtyards. Along the central axis are the Hall of Heavenly Kings, the Manjushri Hall, and the Mahavira Hall. The east and west side halls are the Sangharama Hall and the Ksitigarbha Hall, with bell and drum towers on either side of the screen wall. The bell tower is the only remaining original structure. The temple originally housed five stone tablets recording renovations from the Kangxi, Qianlong, Jiaqing, and Guangxu eras of the Qing Dynasty, but now only one tablet from the sixth year of the Qianlong reign (1741) remains. Hebei Village: Overview of Hebei Village

Hebei Village is a settlement under the jurisdiction of Gengzhen Town, located in the southern part of the town, about 1 kilometer from the town center, nestled between Gengzhen Town and Houchengwei. The road to the town is asphalt-paved, providing convenient transportation, and the village is about 50 kilometers from the county seat. The current population is 2,080, including 1,750 agricultural residents and 1,340 working-age men and women. The village is suitable for growing grain, fruits, vegetables, and other crops. It has a total of 1,320 mu of arable land and 430 mu of forested land. The local economy is primarily based on agriculture and animal husbandry, supplemented by migrant work.
