Ancient City Guan Yu Temple

The Ancient City Guan Yu Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Wutai County.

The Ancient City Guan Yu Temple is located on the west side of Gucheng Village, Taicheng Town, Wutai County. Its founding date is unknown, but the existing structures date back to the Qing Dynasty. The temple faces west and covers an area of 6,915 square meters. The north hall is the Guan Yu Hall, which stands on a brick foundation, measures three bays in width and five rafters in depth.

It has a single-eave hanging hip roof, and the front bay is fitted with four-panel lattice doors with six horizontal mullions and decorative ring patterns. Above the shrine inside the hall are five painted clay statues, while the side and rear walls feature suspended molded reliefs depicting scenes from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. In front of the hall stands a stone stele with illegible inscriptions; the corridor houses a Qing Dynasty stone tablet. Directly to the south is a theater stage, measuring three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a rolled shed roof.
