Yong’an City Site

Yong’an City Site, located 500 meters east of Yong’an Village, Dongye Town, Wutai County. It has a rectangular layout, approximately 530 meters in length from north to south and about 240 meters in width from east to west, covering an area of around 127,000 square meters. The surviving remnants include broken walls on the east, west, and south sides, with the longest section being about 54 meters long, a base width of 1–5 meters, and a remaining height of about 4 meters. The walls were rammed earth structures, with ramming layers about 0.08 meters thick. According to the 1883 “Wutai Xin Zhi” (New Gazetteer of Wutai), this site was the location of an ancient granary city dating back to the Wei and Jin dynasties. Yong’an Village: Yong’an Village is situated to the south of Mount Wutai and on the north bank of the Hutuo River, 2.5 kilometers from Dongye Town and to the southeast of the town. In front of the village runs the east-west Shuohuang Railway, and to the east lies the newly built Xinfu Expressway. The village features a compact, well-organized, flat, and neat layout. The total population is 734, including 31 non-farming residents and 26 party members.
