Xinghua Village Site (Second Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Period: Neolithic Age

Location: Dongbao, Xinghua Town, Fenyang City

The site covers a relatively large area, extending east to Yaotou and Xinzhuang, north to the gentle hilly terrain of Fenghaogou, and connecting further to the undulating Lüliang Mountains. The terrain is higher in the north and lower in the south, with the site area covering approximately 150,000 square meters. The cultural layer is located about 2 meters beneath the surface, with a thickness of 1 meter. Excavations were carried out in 1982, and investigations revealed that the content is extremely rich and widely distributed, with abundant surface ash layers, remains, and artifacts. Based on stratigraphic analysis, the site accumulation is divided into eight phases, spanning a long period from the middle Yangshao Culture of the Neolithic Age to the Shang Dynasty.
