According to the Book of Northern Qi, the brewing history of Xinghua Village dates back to the Heqing era (561–564 AD) of the Northern Qi Dynasty, continuing through the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, uninterrupted for 1,500 years. The site is located on the original foundation of the Song Dynasty’s “Sweet Dew Hall.” The existing workshop remains consist of a fortress-style courtyard complex, composed of two groups of courtyards in the north and south, covering a total area of 9,000 square meters.

The northern courtyard was the original site of the distillery workshop. It consists of five courtyards, covering an area of about 7,000 square meters. The Qing Dynasty distillery workshop still remains, along with underground fermentation vats. There is also an ancient well from the Yuan Dynasty in the courtyard. A pavilion, named “Ancient Well Pavilion,” was built over the well. The pavilion is built against the wall, which has a stone stele inscribed with Fu Shan’s calligraphy “得造花香” (One Can Create the Fragrance of Flowers) embedded in it. This well served as the exclusive water source for Fenjiu brewing until the Republican era. The courtyard also preserves a distillation cylinder used in the Ming Dynasty for brewing. The distillery workshop remains are well-preserved, reflecting the heritage of Fenjiu culture and serving as a highly valuable physical relic of the brewing industry.

In May 2006, Xinghua Village Fenjiu Distillery Workshop, as an ancient building from the Qing Dynasty, was approved by the State Council for inclusion in the sixth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.
