Riverside Wetland

The Riverside Wetland is located in Yanjiang Village, Mangshui Town, Changning County. It is 22 kilometers northeast of the county seat, 17 kilometers from Mangshui Town, and 3 kilometers from the village committee.

Surrounded by mountains on all sides, the wetland lies at an altitude of over 2,500 meters. Originally spanning 56.7 hectares, initial observations indicate that the deepest part of the wetland reaches 5 meters, with an average depth of 2 meters. Livestock have occasionally been trapped and unable to free themselves. The surface of the wetland is covered with sprouting grasses and aquatic blooms, making it a rare and precious natural heritage bestowed upon humanity. To date, the surrounding vegetation remains well-preserved, with nearly a thousand hectares of pristine forest nearby. The area around the wetland boasts exceptionally rich wildlife resources. With its beautiful mountains and rivers, flowing high clouds, and lush green grass, the scenery is enchanting, making it an ideal destination for eco-tourism and environmental tourism.

The characteristics of a wetland (or marsh) include poor drainage, resulting in the presence of slowly moving or stagnant water infiltrating the soil for most or all of the year. Wetlands are typically classified into acid bogs, herbaceous marshes, and forested swamps based on their soil and plant life. The Riverside Wetland is categorized as an herbaceous marsh.
