Langxi Ancient Town

In ancient times, Yinjiang was divided into two counties: during the Tang Dynasty, the eastern part became Siwang County and the western part Siqiong County. The seat of Siwang County was located in what is today’s Langxi Town. Later, under the Tusi system, it was renamed “Langxi Man Yi Changsiming,” governed by hereditary chiefs surnamed Tian and Ren who served as the principal and deputy officials respectively, managing local governance. Evidence of this includes official seals and ancestral halls of the Changsiming office, proving the history of ethnic minorities in Yinjiang.

Another legend says that the ancient Kingdom of Yelang once fought the Han Dynasty here, and the Yelang king named Xing died in battle at this spot. To commemorate King Xing, the locals named the mountain behind Langxi (Longmen Mountain) as Siwang Mountain. In the third year of the Wude era of the Tang Dynasty, Siwang County was established.
