The paleontological fossils in the Geding Paleozoic Fossil Nature Reserve are among the three major sites of the world’s Cambrian life explosion. Located in the northwest of Jianhe County, it is just 3 kilometers from the new county town. The reserve boasts a wide variety and abundant quantity of biological fossils, including trilobites, acritarchs, bivalves, trace fossils, as well as echinoderms, tentaculitoids, poriferans, cnidarians, protocoelomates, brachiopods, mollusks, and more—totaling 11 phyla, 168 genera, and over 500 species. These fossils are of immense significance for the study of the origin, evolution, and dispersal of early metazoans, serving as the “golden key” to understanding biological evolution. They have been praised by experts at home and abroad as the “cradle of paleontological fossils,” representing a precious heritage shared by all of humanity.

The Geding Paleontological Fossil Site has been approved as a National Geopark, playing an active and meaningful role in promoting the county’s economic development, the protection of this precious heritage, and advancing environmental conservation efforts—especially in raising awareness through environmental education.
