Wangjiang Cemetery (Fourth Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Address: Wangjiang Village, Shicun Town, Quwo County

The cemetery is located on a highland at the northern ridge of the village, with higher terrain in the north and lower in the south. It spans 250 meters from east to west and 300 meters from north to south, covering an area of 75,000 square meters. According to surveys and explorations, the total number of tombs exceeds 1,000. In the spring and autumn of 1999, investigation, exploration, and excavation were carried out in the central area of the cemetery.

The tombs are divided into three types: large, medium, and small. Large and small tombs mostly face east-west and are distributed in the western part of the cemetery; large tombs often come in pairs, with most having accompanying chariot-and-horse pits or chariots placed directly inside the burial pits. Medium-sized tombs are more numerous, generally facing north-south, and also tend to be arranged in pairs. Among the 38 excavated Eastern Zhou Dynasty tombs and chariot pits, a large number of bronze ware, jade artifacts, pottery, and chariot-and-horse fittings were unearthed.
