The Qiaoqi Tibetan Village · Shenmuli Scenic Area is situated in Qiaoqi Tibetan Township in the northern part of Baoxing, at the southern foot of Jiajin Mountain — the first major snow-capped mountain crossed during the Long March. It forms a core part of the Giant Panda Habitat World Natural Heritage site and an important section of the Jiajin Mountain National Forest Park. The 100-square-kilometer scenic area boasts high-quality natural tourism resources including alpine meadows, primeval forests, snow mountain lakes, high-altitude calcified pools, and colorful autumn forests. It also features distinctive cultural attractions such as Tibetan villages like Jiuluo, Zegen, Jiala, and Lele, former residences of Mao Zedong and Zhu De, and Qiaoqi Lake. It serves as a key stop along Sichuan’s Western Tourism Loop (the Minor West Loop), the Giant Panda Ecotourism Route, and the Life-Line Route from the Wenchuan Earthquake. Additionally, it is one of the most significant scenic areas within the “Western Sichuan Plateau Scientific Expedition & Forest Ecotourism Zone” and the “Sichuan Ecotourism Corridor,” as designated in the Sichuan Forest Tourism Industry Development Plan.
