Kongshi Forest Scenic Area

Kongshi Forest Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The natural wonder "Kongshi Forest," located in Lingguan Town, Baoxing, lies at the border between Baoxing and Tianquan counties, with an altitude ranging from 800 to 3,000 meters. In early April each year, it transforms into a vast "ocean" made up of countless azaleas. Looking around, the mountains are covered with azaleas that resemble a gathering of colorful clouds and drifting auspicious mists. As a highly adaptable mountain plant, the vast azalea communities display gradual differences in color and flowering period as the altitude varies from low to high. While the azaleas in the mid-to-low mountain areas are already in full bloom, those in the mid-to-high mountain areas exhibit even richer and more intense hues. A fine drizzle and gentle breeze accompany the petals falling to the ground. Amidst the falling blossoms, the lush green valleys and forests are carpeted with a layer of fallen red.

Walking among the flowers startles many rare birds and animals. In the dense forests and secluded valleys, and within the wild arrow bamboo thickets, traces of rare wildlife activities—such as footprints, bite marks, and droppings—are found everywhere. This is also a massive cluster of bizarre rocks. These oddly shaped rocks are distributed in belts within the primeval forest, stretching across dozens of square kilometers along the Jingkong Stone Mountain Ridge. The stones come in all kinds of peculiar forms, including knife-shaped cliffs dozens of meters high, stone "sofas" that can seat several people, and others with straightforward nicknames such as "Stone Turtle," "Stone Airplane," and "Stone Cannonball."

The vast clusters of bizarre rocks are interconnected, forming a labyrinthine stone forest community linked by winding paths. When wandering through it, simply following the trails between the giant rocks without direction can easily lead you to go in circles within the stone forest. Hence, the locals call this place the "Stone Maze."

Lingguan Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Baoxing County. Initially established as Lingguan County in the early years of the Wude era during the Tang Dynasty, it became Zhongling Township in 1729 when Tianquan Prefecture underwent the "abolition of native chieftainships and establishment of direct governance." In 1944, it was renamed Lingguan Township, became a town in 1952, reverted to a township in 1956, was turned into a commune in 1958, restored as a township in 1984, and became Lingguan Town again in 1987. It is located in the southeastern part of the county, on the western bank of the Baoxing River, 12.3 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 135.9 square kilometers with a population of 9,000, it is traversed by the Fei (Xian Guan)–Bao (Xing) Highway.
