Boyang Mountain Scenic Area

Boyang Mountain, also known as Nanshou Mountain or Bo Wang Mountain, is located in Xingyi County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province, and is a mountainous provincial-level scenic spot.

Bo Wang Mountain is an isolated hill rising from the flatlands, covering an area of 18.2 square kilometers. It is surrounded by steep cliffs, with its main peak, Black Hat Summit, reaching an elevation of 1,180 meters. The mountain is covered with lush bamboo, offering a serene and elegant atmosphere; within the mountain, five streams flow from south to north, forming natural wonders such as canyons, waterfalls, lakes, sinkholes, and layered rock formations. It is hailed as a "dreamlike landscape world" and a "breathtaking scenery." Bo Wang Mountain has been a famous mountain since ancient times, once home to an ancient and mysterious ethnic group from southwestern China—the Bo people. Historical records state that in the fifth year of the Zhenghe era during the Northern Song Dynasty (1115 AD), the Bo chieftain Bulei built city walls and fortress gates on Bo Wang Mountain, declared himself king, and started a rebellion. The Song Dynasty sent troops to suppress it. After the rebellion was quelled, Emperor Huizong of the Northern Song Dynasty bestowed the name "Bo Wang Mountain" upon it, a name that has been used ever since.

Located 20 kilometers west of the county town in YanYang Town, where troughs and fields connect and paths crisscross, Boyang Mountain rises abruptly from the flatland, with sheer cliffs towering on all sides. Its main peak, Black Hat Summit, soars into the clouds at an altitude of 1,180 meters. The mountain is covered with lush greenery, vast and tranquil; its mountain gates, valleys, streams, waterfalls, lakes, caves, and peculiar rocks form a naturally integrated and exquisite landscape.

Five streams on Bo Wang Mountain meander through the valleys from south to north, creating numerous waterfalls of various shapes: the undulating and continuous Mengxi Cascade stretching for several meters; the Longquan Waterfall, which plunges like a white dragon emerging from a cave; the Tongsheng Waterfall, known for the saying "roar three times and rain will come"; and the Baopen Valley Encircling Waterfall, where waterfalls seem to emerge from all directions after the rain...

Bo Wang Mountain has three major highlights:

Bamboo is the charm of Bo Wang Mountain. The central scenic area of Bo Wang Mountain features a 14-square-kilometer forest of nan bamboo. In addition to nan bamboo, the mountain is also home to lush stands of trees such as Alsophila spinulosa, Phoebe zhennan, Ginkgo biloba, and Kalopanax septemlobus. Environmental monitoring indicates that the pollution index for both water and air on the mountain is zero, making it highly suitable for leisure and vacation tourism.

Water is the soul of Bo Wang Mountain. The mountain boasts abundant water resources, forming landscapes such as canyons, waterfalls, and lakes. Among these, the waterfalls are the most distinctive.
