Jianwu Ming Stele

The Jianwu Ming Stele is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Jianwu Ming Stele is located at the southern foot of Yupingdun in Jiuxicheng Town, Xingwen County. It consists of five rectangular steles with arched tops, divided into large and small types. The large steles are 4.55 meters high, 2.3 meters wide, and 0.33 meters thick; the small ones are 3.5 meters high, 1.9 meters wide, and 0.33 meters thick. The characters are 0.06 meters in size, spaced 0.03 meters apart, with 0.03-meter line spacing, and are inscribed in intaglio regular script. They include “The Minor Record of Meritorious Deeds Stele,” “The Record of Pacifying the Barbarians Stele,” “The Barbarians Stele Record,” “The Ode to Pacifying the Barbarians,” and “The Rongping Expedition Stele with Preface.” Except for the “Minor Record of Meritorious Deeds Stele,” where some characters are still legible, the others have largely weathered away, but the full texts are recorded in the Xingwen County Annals from the Republic of China era.

Although the steles were erected in the second year of the Wanli era (1574) within Jianwu City as merit steles for individuals such as Zeng Shengwu and Liu Xian, they serve as valuable historical research material. In 1981, the former Yibin Regional Administrative Office designated them as a cultural relics protection unit.

Jiuxicheng Town: In 2019, the Yuxiu Miao Ethnic Township was abolished, and its administrative area was incorporated into Jiuxicheng Town. The government of Jiuxicheng Town is located at No. 140, Middle Section of Bicheng Avenue.

Jiuxicheng Town is located 64 kilometers west of the county seat. It borders Daba Miao Ethnic Township to the east, Yunnan Province to the south, Shipai and Caoying townships of Gong County to the west, and Xianfeng and Yuxiu Miao Ethnic Townships to the north. The town covers an area of approximately 140 square kilometers, with elevations ranging from 580 to 1,369 meters. It is predominantly mountainous and represents a typical southwestern basin landscape.
