The Site Where the Red Army Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Border Area Guerrilla Column Merged with the Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Detachment is located in Bowang Village, Boyangshan Town, Xingwen County, within the Boyangshan area of the Xingwen Global Geopark, approximately 29 kilometers from the county seat of Xingwen. The building is a traditional Chinese single-story structure, covering an area of 100 square meters.

In March 1935, the Red Army Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Column moved to Jianwu in Xingwen County. Liu Fuchu, leader of the Southern Sichuan Sixth Guerrilla Detachment, rushed to Jianwu to report on the situation of the Southern Sichuan Sixth Guerrilla Detachment and enemy conditions in southern Sichuan to the CPC Sichuan-South Special Committee and the leadership of the guerrilla column. The CPC Sichuan-South Special Committee decided to rename the Southern Sichuan Sixth Guerrilla Detachment as the "Red Army Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Detachment," placing it directly under the committee’s leadership. It was temporarily not merged into the column but remained in the region to carry out armed struggle and support the column’s operations. In July 1935, the Red Army Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Column was renamed the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Border Area Guerrilla Column. Several months later, based on the evolving situation, the CPC Sichuan-Yunnan-Guizhou Border Area Special Committee decided that the Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Detachment should rejoin the main force to strengthen the column. On September 11, under the command of Column Commander Liu Ganchen and Political Commissar Yu Zehong, the column (which still had two detachments) met with the Southern Sichuan Guerrilla Detachment, led by Liu Fuchu, at Bowang Mountain (now Boyangshan) in Xingwen County. The detachment was incorporated as the Third Detachment, with Liu Fuchu appointed as the column’s Chief of Staff. After the merger, the reinforced guerrilla column successively attacked Hongqiao and Anningqiao, captured Xupengxi, and posed threats to Yibin and Luzhou, greatly boosting the column’s military prestige and shaking enemy forces.
