Sichuan South Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army Base (Lingxiao City) is a classic red tourism destination.

Lingxiao City, also known as Gongji City, is located at the junction of southwestern Xingwen County and Changning County, within BOWangshan Town. It was a renowned anti-Yuan stronghold during the Song Dynasty. At an elevation of 1,080 meters, the solitary peak rises abruptly with cliffs on three sides, accessible only via one path (Duanjingyan). The flat mountaintop covers an area of over 60 acres and lies 38 kilometers from the county seat of Xingwen.

On February 1, 1930, over 180 members of the Sichuan South Revolutionary Army Independent Regiment, led by Communists Wang Zejia and Yuan Dunhou, armed with more than 140 rifles, marched in a three-battalion regiment formation to occupy Lingxiao City. They stockpiled provisions and leveraged the steep, easily defensible terrain to establish a base and expand their armed struggle. By early March, Chen Zifang, commander of the Southern Six Counties’ Pacification Command, urgently dispatched a small squad led by Yu Boshan to block the mountain’s base. He also secretly reported to the Sichuan Provincial Government: “Rebellion in the border region of southern Sichuan,” requesting military suppression. In early April, the provincial government ordered the Yibin Merchant Protection Corps to deploy two regular battalions equipped with mortars, led by Shen Meisun—chief of staff of Liu Wenhui’s division and magistrate of Yibin County—along with thousands of local militia from Gongxian, Changning, Jiang’an, Xingwen, Junlian, Xuyong, and Guxi counties, assembling at the foot of Lingxiao Mountain to suppress the Workers' and Peasants' Revolutionary Army. The revolutionary forces held their ground against repeated attacks. Fighting fiercely until June of the same year, they were eventually forced to make a bloody breakout due to lack of external support and depletion of ammunition and supplies, with only a few members managing to escape.

A road leads to within 1 kilometer of Lingxiao City. The summit is uninhabited but cultivated with grain, trees, bamboo, and medicinal herbs. Remnants such as gate barriers and trenches still remain.
