Hushan Pavilion is located on a small hill beside the road in Group 9, Gaochao Village, Bowangshan Town, Xingwen County, nestled against the mountain and near the water. It is 23 kilometers from downtown Xingwen County.

Huang Hushan served as the captain of the Fifth Company of the National Security Bureau during the Long March of the Red Army. In 1936, after the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China established the Red Army Sichuan–Southern Guerrilla Column, the entire Fifth Company was incorporated into the column, with Huang Hushan appointed as captain of the Fifth Battalion. Later, when the Sichuan–Southern Guerrilla Column was renamed the Sichuan–Yunnan–Guizhou Border Guerrilla Column, he became captain of the Second Battalion. In March of that year, Huang Hushan led over 30 team members to carry out work in Qinglian Township, Xingwen (now part of Bowangshan Town), staying at the home of Yuan Xingshun at Huomagou. They were attacked by over 60 members of a local special operations unit and militia after being betrayed. During the battle, Huang was wounded in the foot and was sent to a farmer’s home in Luobolin (now Xingwen Stone Sea Town) for medical treatment. He was later captured by the enemy and imprisoned in Xingwen County Jail. Despite being severely tortured, he remained steadfast and unyielding, and was eventually tortured to death by the enemy and his body discarded in the wilderness outside Xingwen County town.

In 1991, to commemorate the Red Army martyr Huang Hushan, Xingwen Town and Xinmin District of Xingwen County built “Hushan Pavilion” here. The structure covers an area of 33 square meters. The pavilion is made of reinforced concrete, standing 6.6 meters tall with a length and width of 5.5 meters each. A monument stands inside the pavilion, recounting the life and deeds of the martyr.
