Xingwen County Martyrs' Cemetery

Xingwen County Martyrs' Cemetery is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

Xingwen County Martyrs' Cemetery is located at the summit of Baita Mountain on the eastern side of Xingwen County. It is surrounded by forests, and the green coverage rate of the cemetery reaches 50%.

The original GuSong County Martyrs' Cemetery, built in 1956, was located in the central sports ground of Xingwen County. There are 43 martyr tombs, including those of PLA soldiers who died liberating Xingwen (GuSong), military and local cadres who perished in grain collection and bandit suppression efforts, as well as officials and soldiers who died in the line of duty during peacetime. In October 1983, following an administrative division adjustment, the county seat of Xingwen was relocated to GuSong Town. To accommodate urban redevelopment, the martyrs' cemetery in the central sports ground was moved to Baita Mountain in 1998. Between 2003 and 2009, the cemetery’s area expanded from 1,970 square meters to 5,000 square meters. A memorial hall was added, and 26 previously scattered Red Army martyr tombs within the county were relocated here, bringing the total number of martyr tombs to 69. Among those laid to rest in the cemetery are Dai Yuanhuai, Organization Minister of the Sichuan–Southern Guerrilla Column of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army; Liu Ganchen, Chief of Staff (later Commander); Red Army Company Commander Lang; and Liberation GuSong martyr PLA Platoon Leader Li Shengfa. All current martyr tombs are newly built, each with its own individual black marble gravestone.

In 2009, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit and patriotic education base.
