Xingwen Red Army Rock

Xingwen Red Army Rock is a classic red tourism destination.

Red Army Rock is located on the cliffs of the "Big Funnel" in Xingwen Stone Sea, a national key cultural relics protection unit scenic area and a UNESCO Global Geopark in Xingwen County, 26 kilometers from the county seat.

On February 6, 1935, during the Long March, the Red Army passed through Xingwen County. One soldier from the rear guard of the First Red Army Corps jumped off the cliff to escape enemy capture and sacrificed his life. The local people have since referred to the spot where the Red Army soldier jumped and died as "Red Army Rock."

In 1996, the People's Government of Xingwen County and the Xingwen Stone Forest Management Office built a martyr’s tomb beneath Red Army Rock, erected a gravestone, and carved three large characters — "Red Army Rock" — inscribed by General Zhang Aiping, into the rock face. The white marble gravestone and the historical inscription commemorating the event are particularly striking.
