Chongfu Temple

Chongfu Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province.

Chongfu Temple in Tuncheng is located in Wang Village, Lücun Township, 8 kilometers north of the county seat. It was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit of Shanxi Province in 1996 and dated to the Jin and Yuan dynasties.

The temple faces south and has a single-courtyard layout. The main hall has three bays, along with ten side and auxiliary rooms, covering a total area of 726 square meters. The main hall is three bays wide, four rafters deep, with a single-eave hanging gable roof and a four-rafter frame. The beam framework features an exposed rafter design, and its structure consists of the front three rafters framing paired with rear tension ties supported by three columns. The column-top bracket sets are single-tiered with single-bracket arms, and the roof has a gentle slope. The interior beams and pillars are neatly arranged, reflecting the architectural style of the Song and Jin periods.

The east gable wall of the main hall of Chongfu Temple originally housed a Jin Dynasty “Imperial Edict Stele” from the first year of the Chongqing era (1212).
