The Tomb of Guo Cheng and His Wife is a cultural relic protection unit of Sichuan Province.

The Tomb of Guo Cheng and His Wife is located at Qikuaibei in Geping Village, northeast of Baxi Town, Yibin County. It lies behind the Neikun Railway. In 1999, the Sichuan Provincial Cultural Relics and Archaeology Excavation Team conducted an emergency rescue excavation and clearance.

The irregular circular burial mound of Guo Cheng’s tomb covers an area of about 200 square meters. The tomb consists of one central hall and seven chambers. The hall is 12.22 meters wide, 1.7 meters deep, and 3 meters high, with a vaulted ceiling. The seven burial chambers are arranged horizontally on the left and right, all of equal size—each 1.42 meters wide, 2.7 meters high, and 3.28 meters deep. The door walls and rear walls feature high-relief carvings, mainly depicting imitation wooden architectural structures and dragon-phoenix motifs, particularly 14 pillar-embracing dragons in various poses. The ceilings of the burial chambers are adorned with colorful paintings, featuring celestial patterns or floral designs. Inside the chambers, there are inscribed epitaphs such as “Spirit Tablet of Lady Zhang, Honored by Imperial Decree in the Ming Dynasty” and “Spirit Tablet of Madam Lu, Honored by Imperial Decree in the Ming Dynasty.” In front of the tomb, there are four broken stone tablets, along with four unearthed epitaphs including “Epitaph of Madam Shao, Wife of Guo, Honored by Imperial Grant in the Ming Dynasty,” as well as pottery jars and other artifacts.

The tomb owner, Guo Cheng, participated in battles against Japanese pirates, the suppression of Songpan, and the campaign against the Jiusi Man people. He rose to the rank of regional commander, initially stationed in southern Sichuan, then in Tongren, and later was “promoted successively to the rank of Left General and Commander-in-Chief.” The Tomb of Guo Cheng is a rare physical resource for studying Ming Dynasty tombs, stone carving art, and ancient architecture.
