Yibin Museum is a patriotic education base.

Yibin Museum is a municipal-level comprehensive museum and a municipal-level patriotic education base, under the administration of the Yibin Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publication. Its office is located on Zhenwushan in Cuiping District, while the exhibition halls are situated in the Daguanlou building on Xijie in the city center. The museum currently houses over 10,000 cultural relics, including 3 first-grade artifacts, 18 second-grade artifacts, and 822 third-grade artifacts. Among these collections are stone adzes and axes that fill gaps in the Neolithic history of southern Sichuan, a rich assortment of bronze, iron, pottery, and stone relics from the Shang, Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties, liquor culture artifacts such as ivory-carved drinking game pieces and Wuliangye liquor bottles from the Republican era, as well as calligraphy and paintings by renowned artists such as Zhang Daqian and Zhang Shanzi. These relics are not only important symbols of Yibin as a national historical and cultural city but also typical representatives of the city’s precious cultural heritage.

Since 1984, Yibin Museum has hosted various exhibitions, including the “Exhibition of Han Dynasty Relics Unearthed in the Yibin Area,” “Exhibition of Ancient Bronze Drums in Southern Sichuan,” “Exhibition of Yibin as a Historical and Cultural City,” “Exhibition of the Bamboo Sea in Southern Sichuan,” “Exhibition on the Development and Utilization of Natural Resources in the Yibin Area,” “Exhibition of Ancient Coins along the Southern Silk Road,” “Exhibition of Yibin’s Intangible Cultural Heritage,” and “Archaeology in Yibin Through Five Millennia – Exhibition of Achievements in the Rescue and Protection of Cultural Relics from the Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station.” Among them, the “Yibin Liquor History Exhibition” was exhibited in Shenzhen and contributed to the advancement of research on Chinese liquor culture; the “Bamboo Sea in Southern Sichuan Exhibition” was shown in Beijing and played a role in promoting the tourist destination as well as research on bamboo culture; the “Exhibition of Yibin as a Historical and Cultural City” pioneered the format of thematic exhibitions focused on historical and cultural cities in China and received widespread acclaim from scholars, experts, and the general public. The “Archaeology in Yibin Through Five Millennia – Exhibition of Achievements in the Rescue and Protection of Cultural Relics from the Xiangjiaba Hydropower Station,” jointly organized with the Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology, was the first large-scale special exhibition in China showcasing achievements in cultural relic protection during major infrastructure projects. It garnered significant social attention, was covered extensively by multiple media outlets, attracted a large number of visitors, and received an enthusiastic response. The “Yibin Historical and Cultural Heritage Exhibition” is divided into two sections: tangible cultural heritage and intangible cultural heritage. It features selected highlights of Yibin’s historical and cultural legacy, presented through objects, models, images, texts, and more, covering ancient sites, architecture, tombs, intangible cultural heritage, and the historical evolution of Yibin’s fine liquors. The current permanent exhibition is titled “Viewing the City from Daguan – Exhibition of Yibin as a Historical and Cultural City.”
