Foxian Mountain Scenic Area

Foxian Mountain Scenic Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Foxian Mountain is located on the southern side of Yibin City, with an elevation of 805.6 meters and situated 12 kilometers from the city center. It is the highest peak in Cuiping District, offering panoramic views of the entire urban area of Yibin. The mountain boasts fresh and pleasant air, the fragrant aroma of gardenias that refreshes the soul, birdsong and floral scents all year round, and has been praised by visitors as a “natural high-altitude oxygen bar.” The Leiyin Temple, known as the “No. 1 Temple in the South of the Yangtze River,” is surrounded by swaying woods, and the scenic area features distinctly characteristic buildings of traditional southern Sichuan residential architecture. At the foot of the mountain lies the graceful Qixing Lake, where the mountains and water complement each other, creating a picturesque scene like a poem or painting.

Foxian Mountain is hailed as Yibin’s leisure oxygen bar and natural barrier. The Gardenia Soul Cultural Square is located in the central area of Foxian Mountain, adjacent to the main tourist road of Foxian Mountain and famous attractions such as Sunset Cliff, Sky-Viewing Platform, Sunset Glow Platform, Wind-Listening Platform, Cloud-Reaching Platform, Panoramic Pavilion, and Fairy Rock. The square is surrounded by lush forests and bamboo, with peculiar mountains, strange rocks, and pavilions dotting the landscape. Upon arrival, one can hear the crisp and melodious chirping of birds continuously.

The mountain has a 5,000-mu base of yellow gardenias, earning it the reputation of the “Hometown of Yellow Gardenias in China.” Among the sea of flowers, five “viewing pavilions” are dotted like pearls: the Qixing Pavilion, located on the mountaintop west of Qixing Lake, resembles a colorful fairy who can overlook the beautiful panoramic view of Qixing Lake; the Panoramic Pavilion, a pearl adorning Xian’e Rock, offers a view of tens of thousands of acres of flowers; the Fragrant Snow Pavilion, amidst vast fields of gardenia forests, fills the air with bursts of fragrance when the breeze blows; the Beneficent Wind Pavilion, situated within the flower sea, showcases the virtues of kindness and grace of the people of Foxian; and the Transcendent Pavilion, where a leisurely stroll brings peace and tranquility, with all the beautiful mountain scenery kept in the heart.

There are 1,000 mu of nanmu bamboo and bitter bamboo forests, along with 3,000 mu of other ecological forests. Two tea plantations, Yunfeng and Jianshe, surround the mountainside, largely preserving the original appearance of nature. The environment is beautiful, the air is fresh, and the area remains shaded by green trees all year round. In the woods, one can often see wild pheasants, hares, and other animals darting about, as well as birds such as egrets and thrushes flying overhead, adding much liveliness to the mountain scenery. Every winter, snow accumulates on Foxian Mountain, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of the snowy landscape. It is a popular suburban destination for residents of Yibin City and Cuiping District to admire gardenias.

As Yibin’s “back garden of the central urban area” and the “hometown of tens of thousands of acres of flowers in southern Sichuan,” Zhaochang’s Foxian Mountain is highly favored by locals. Whether for hiking, self-driving tours, or gatherings, everyone loves to come here to admire the gardenias and enjoy the limitless comfort and slow-paced joy of suburban tourism. Layers of white flower seas, clusters of lush flower branches, pieces of tender petals, and waves of intoxicating floral fragrance bring joy to the heart and make visitors linger without wanting to leave.
